I want to use the Doggy Day Care.
Give us a call or pop in to see us. We have a short application form to complete so we can gather all the details we need to care for your dog properly.
To comply with our local authority licence, we’ll need to take and keep a copy of your dog’s vaccination certificate, including kennel cough, any relevant health records, your dog’s registered veterinary practice details, and emergency contact information.
While attending our doggy day care in Northampton, your dog’s flea and worming treatments should be kept up to date. We’d hate for them to bring home any unwanted parasites or pass anything on to others. Prevention is far better (and cheaper) than the cure.
Do I have to register, or can I just turn up with my dog?
We love welcoming new faces! However, to protect your dog, our other dogs, and our team, your dog will need a temperament test and you’ll need to answer a few questions about your pet’s history.
It’s important to let us know about any concerns so we can monitor your dog closely and help manage any behaviours. A small issue doesn’t automatically mean your dog can’t attend our doggy day care in Northampton, but it may require extra monitoring.
We do not accept dogs with aggressive tendencies towards other dogs or people. Our rule of thumb is: no fighters, no biters, no humpers.
Does my dog have to be castrated?
We need to be considerate towards our female guests, and we wouldn’t want any unexpected puppies. All male dogs over 6 months old must be castrated at least 4 weeks before attending Scoobys Doggy Day Care. Other medicinal methods may be considered—please contact us to discuss your circumstances.
Does my girl have to be spayed?
No, it’s preferred but not required. However, we recommend keeping your girl at home during her season and for 2 weeks afterwards to ensure the comfort of our other guests.
My dog doesn't like to play all day, but I want her to have company if she wants it.
That’s absolutely fine. We have a quiet lounge where dogs can rest, away from excitable and energetic play. Comfortable bedding is provided, and we also have cosy bedding stations around each room so your dog can sit back and watch the action if they prefer.
Do you walk the dogs?
We don’t walk the dogs outside the centre. Our 9,000 sq ft of indoor space and 3,000 sq ft of secure outdoor areas with grass, gravel, and hard standing provide plenty of exercise and stimulation. With different areas, activities, and the opportunity to play freely with other dogs, your dog will get all the exercise they need without leaving our secure facility.
Will my dog pick up bad habits from other dogs?
Dogs can pick up behaviours from each other, but our trained staff are on hand to positively correct any inappropriate actions. Most of all, we encourage dogs to learn good habits from others, helping them break any bad habits they may already have. If you have concerns about your dog’s behaviour before or during their time with us, please let us know so we can support you.
Do you offer grooming?
Not at the moment, but we will be introducing grooming soon. For now, we offer a self-serve dog wash, or we can wash your dog for a small additional charge using the self-serve facilities.
We’ve completed the forms and been approved. Do we need to book?
We prefer that you book if possible so we can ensure we have enough staff to provide the best care for your dog. We also have a daily capacity limit, so it’s advisable to book in advance to secure your place. If you need our services at short notice, please call us on 01604 700128 to check availability.
